About Denton Housing Authority

Denton Housing Authority is located in Denton, Texas, north of Dallas & Fort Worth. Denton has an estimated population of 103,029, and is home to two major universities and numerous major public and private employers. Our Administrative Office building is located in Southeast Denton, on the corner of Wilson and Ruddell Streets. This office houses our Administration staff and the Section 8 Program staff.

DHA administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Participants in this program receive a voucher to search for housing in the private market. We are also currently administering the Disaster Voucher Program (DVP) that assist previously assisted Hurricane Katrina & Rita victims with housing assistance using the Section 8 voucher. We also administer the Section 8 Homeownership Program that allows Section 8 voucher holders to use their assistance to own instead of renting a home.

DHA also owns and manages Heritage Oaks Apartment. DHA also developed and manages Pecan Place Apartments, a tax credit senior property with Section 8 assistance. And DHA just completed development and construction of Renaissance Courts Townhomes, a tax credit multifamily property that is ready for occupancy. This property is managed by Lincoln Property Company.
